12345 (Junk) Journal

5 journal prompts, 4 recommendations, 3 habits, 2 bucket list items, and 1 theme to muse on

I came across this format from a newsletter I am subscribed to called Bad Art Every Day and had to give it a go immediately. I love that newsletter, and you should check it out! I came across it on TikTok and also follow Margaret there.

This 12345 (Junk) Journal will be drawn from my summer thus far.

5 journal prompts

What are you grateful for right at this moment?

Describe in detail what the best version of yourself is like.

What is something you can do this week to spend time with yourself?

Do you care about yourself the way you care about others? In what ways and how can you be kinder to yourself?

What is something that has gone well for you in the past week?

4 recommendations

  • Adults on Hulu

Honestly, one of the best comedy shows I’ve watched about Gen Z and somehow scarily accurate?? Either way, it gave me many giggles, and I am obsessed. Next show to watch is going to be Overcompensating….

  • Stall Mates

I purchased these to bring with me to Lollapalooza because they often run out of toilet paper in the bathrooms. Absolutely perfect for a festival or a long day in general. Kept me feeling refreshed and as clean as I could be.

  • Cauliflower and chickpea wraps

I found this recipe through a coworker almost a year ago, and it has been in rotation ever since. It’s just pita wraps, roasted cauliflower + chickpeas, a homemade sauce, and some pickled onions. Absolutely delicious, and I will never stop making it

  • Owala waterbottle

Okay, don’t hate me, but I now have an Owala and a Stanley. I’ve had my Stanley for over 2 years now, and I still love it; however, I really love my new Owala too!! I did not make this purchase, however, and am not sure if I would have bought it because my Stanley is still functional. I just love the covered straw so much!!!

3 habits

Writing down three things you are grateful for each day

5-minute solo dance party

Daily walk

2 bucket list items

Music festival

  • Completed this one just last week! However, I think everyone should attend a music festival at least once in their lives.

Learning something new

  • This one is pretty broad, but I want to reprioritize learning. I’m currently finishing reading Waste by Catherine Coleman Flowers, and I learned so much about the issues around waste management in the rural south. I didn’t know anything about it before I picked up the book.

1 theme to muse on

Connection has been on my mind a lot recently. How do we connect with ourselves, with others, and with our communities? Are we too connected in the age of social media? How do we connect in the moment? How do you connect with the world around you? What if we all have different ways of wanting to connect?

I absolutely got my money’s worth this year, and I got to hear some of my absolute favorite songs ever. I finally heard how to be a heartbreaker live, which was very exciting for 13-year-old Yukta.

See ya!

Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next week!
