Journaling and prompts for November

I’ve recently gotten back into journaling and it’s like coming home. I used to journal all the time. Throughout middle school and high school, I would journal to remember the time and to process how I was feeling. I wrote about my fears, my wants, ongoing drama, navigating growing up, crushes, and so much more. It was a space for me to share whatever I wanted. I mostly used it as a place to vent and share my problems so that I could let go of them.

I haven’t been journaling as much recently and it’s starting to show. I’m out of tune with myself and not paying attention to how I’m feeling. Thanks to Eli Rallo, I’m slowly getting back into the practice. She started a November journaling challenge which was the exact motivation I needed. I feel so much more connected to myself and my emotions now and it’s only been a week of this challenge. Shifting to journaling with a purpose has also helped me better understand myself. It’s one thing to brain dump into a journal, it’s another to use it as a tool to better understand yourself.

I talk a lot about how writing is so near and dear to me, but journaling is another level. My diaries and journals through the years have seen the deepest parts of me. I write the things I’m afraid to write about and somehow they become less scary through the process. Sometimes I’m scared to pick the pen because I know what’s going to come out is going to be the truth. I love going back through old entries and remembering the person I was all those years ago.

Here are some journaling prompts to help you get into the habit or start a new habit as well:

A few of these are from Eli Rallo’s challenge so check it out if you want to join otherwise these are a great start to develop your journaling practice!
